RCC holds two annual multi-day whitewater trips, one over the Easter holiday break and one in early October.

Easter Safari – Grade 3/4

Held around the Nymboida River, this trip is for paddlers able to handle Grade 3 or higher. The weekend is based around the camping area at Platypus Flat right on the Nymboida, a beautiful spot for camping, camp fires, and less than intelligent conversations.

The kayaking usually begins on Good Friday with a day trip on local creeks and rivers around the Nymboida such as the Little Murray or Upper Nymboida, with an easier grade 2/3 trip and a harder Grade 4 trip.

Saturday sees the group combine to paddle the magnificent Nymboida. The first day of this trip is from Platypus Flat down to the Cod Hole, then Sunday is a long day on the water down to the Junction.

For those who are keen there is always a paddle available on Monday on one of the creeks in the area.

October Long Weekend and Surrounding Weeks – Grades 2 to 4

For most of us this is the paddling highlight of the year. Nine days of kayaking in the Snowy Mountains, magnificent camping spots, challenging and beautiful rivers, great company.

There is no set order of rivers as it depends on where the water is, but regular rivers paddled include the Eucumbene, Snowy, Thredbo, Mitta Mitta, Cobungra, Bundara, Kiewa etc etc etc!

The trip caters to a wide range of abilities. If you can paddle Grade 2 you’ll be able to come along, but if you want Grade 4 there is plenty around.

Book your time off work for this time of year. Come for a few days or be a legend and paddle every day of the trip!

Cold water paddling gear and camping gear a must!
