Sometimes I just want to paddle, no leading, no dodging ferries, just head down, focusing on technique, strength and endurance.  The plan is to spend an hour paddling as a group improving our style (hopefully) followed by paddling at pace for an hour.  This is not a guided trip and involves significant solo paddling in the darkness on the Cooks Rivers and the Airport Canals.  Normal safety equipment  plus night lights and mobile phone.  Will try to make this a regular paddle, but may not be every week.

This weekend is especially designed for juniors who are experienced flatwater paddlers.  We do also welcome parents and members who are keen to "make the move" to paddling whitewater rivers.   As an experienced whitewater paddler I've always found these events a lot of fun and rewarding. Please come and support the possibility of bringing more juniors and their parents to the Club.

 But we must ask that all children be accompanied by parents when off the water.  And all adults supervising children on the water to hold a Working With Children Check.

The Minnamurra River is a hidden oasis between Shellharbour and Kiama on the Illawarra Coast. Not so long ago any trip to the south coast would have involved sitting in a traffic jam beside the Minnnamurra River. This has all change with a big bypass on the Princes Highway. No more traffic jams and also no more traffic by the Minnamurra River.

The meeting location has changed to James Oates Reserve near 154 Charles Avenue. As there are 23 of us coming for a the paddle the carpark is bigger at James Oates Reserve

Meet 6am at the Club House
6.15am on the water (sunrise)
Paddle for 60 minutes
7.15 Back at club house to rinse gear and back up boats
7.30-8am Change for work
I want to have the club locked up and on my way to work by 8am.

Description: 

Sometimes I just want to paddle, no leading, no dodging ferries, just head down, focusing on technique, strength and endurance.  The plan is to spend an hour paddling as a group improving our style (hopefully) followed by paddling at pace for an hour.  This is not a guided trip and involves significant solo paddling in the darkness on the Cooks Rivers and the Airport Canals.  Normal safety equipment  plus night lights and mobile phone.  Will try to make this a regular paddle, but may not be every week.

A local paddle from the club house for all, during daylight savings. First paddle of the month for beginners second in the month is more for fitness and may go out to Botany Bay.
